RAINBOW SCALE – ENTRY: ANZ BANK, MARDI GRAS – ART | ARCHITECTURE

What if businesses and organizations could use the well-known and widely loved rainbow symbol to express more than just being LBGTQI+ friendly?

By adding a scale to the rainbow resulting in a “Rainbow Scale”, organizations communicate at first glance one crucial piece of information: how many members of the LBGTQI+ community are actually employed by the organization ?

The position of the scale added to the rainbow represents the proportion of LBGTQI+ community members employed by the organization, ranging from left (0% of employees) to the right side (100% of employees).

Each rainbow symbol is hereby transformed into a statement of an organization’s actions taken and this transparency hopefully increases equitable employment opportunities for LBGTQI+ community members.

The “Rainbow Scale” logo displayed on websites and premises allows customers, potential employees and business partners to immediately understand the true commitment of and LBGTQI+ representation within the organization.

Organizations may select any of the following 3 versions:

1. RAINBOW SCALE (LOGO ONLY)

The “RAINBOW SCALE” above represents – moving clockwise – increments in the proportion of employment of LGBTQI+ people. Starting on the left with 0% employees and ending on the right with 100% employees. Washed out areas to the right of the scale represent the missing color, meaning the lack of LGBTQI+ members, inside the organization.

2. RAINBOW SCALE (LOGO + PERCENTAGES)

This version of the “RAINBOW SCALE” design includes explanatory numbers representing the proportion of employees with-in the organization. Washed out areas to the right of the scale represent non-LGBTQI+ employees.

3. RAINBOW SCALE (LOGO + TEXT + PERCENTAGE)

In this third version of the “RAINBOW SCALE”, additional text is included for even greater clarity about the proportion of employees within the organization. Washed out areas to the right of the scale represent non-LGBTQI+ employees.
